Are folks in L.A. really as shallow as they are commonly perceived to be? Note: I’m not ripping on L.A.!!!

You often hear of the L.A. shallowness thing. And I know that L.A. is a huge place with lots of different types of people. So I realize that this is a stereotype. I am a guy from the Chicago/ Milwaukee area and moved to Florida about 5 years ago and can say that in general folks from the midwest are generally more down to earth beer and sausage eating type of folks than Florida folks. But then again, I have never really seen the type of crazy wealth that i have seen here in Florida and that might have something to do with people’s attitudes. Lots of plastic surgery clinics and high model Mercedes-Benz’s here. Much more than where I came from.Again, I am just a middle class adult from the midwest. Anyways, is there any truth to the L.A. shallowness thing? I may visit out there someday.
Note: I realize that MANY people in Florida are not from Florida. Many are from out east. Especially where I live.

I moved to Long Beah Ca. 2 years ago from Racine, WI and the people are alot different. There are so many different groups of people here, but they all seem to fit thier own stereotypes. People from rich housewives to moviestars, gangbangers to doctors…the stereotypes ARE true!

For the shallowness thing, ther are shallow people, and they tend to be wealthier than most. But on the otherhand, there are alot of nice, good hard working people. (But they tend to be from out of state) LOL.

In conclusion, its a GREAT place to visit or even live for a short period of time.
