The musical is based on the book by stage veterans late James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante. Kirkwood’s mother and father were also actors and introduced him to the ins and outs of the business. Both were awarded Tony Awards and Pulitzer Prizes for their work on A Chorus Line. Also winning a Pulitzer for his work was composer Marvin Hamlisch. He was also the composer for They’re Playing Our Song and Sweet Smell of Success. For his work with A Chorus Line, late lyricist Edward Kleban won Tony, Drama Desk and Oliver Awards along with the Pulitzer.
The cast includes seasoned stars and Broadway newbies. Easily-recognized actor Mario Lopez appears as Zach and former Wicked cast member Katherine Tokarz plays Kristine. Six members, including Lopez, are making their Broadway debut with A Chorus Line. Jeffrey Schecter played the original character of Mike on Broadway and comes back to revive the role in the current production.
