Despite good health and a reasonable level of fitness, some people may have body profile with disproportionate contours due to localized fat. These patients are not happy or satisfied with their body contour and may have disproportion of the body. Our body fat deposits are affected by many factors, this may be due to changes in hormone level that slows the body's metabolism, stress and behavior psychological which can increase our intake of nutrients beyond our need and genetic characteristics of a person who may predispose to overweight or obesity.

Suction assisted lipectomy or commonly known as liposuction is a procedure that slims, shapes, contours and restore body proportion thus improve self-image of the patient. Liposuction is a surgical aspiration of fat under the skin, leaving a contour nice and smooth transition between regions of the body. Liposuction is a cosmetic procedures worldwide most commonly performed by plastic certified cosmetic surgeons.

There are several types or techniques to perform a liposuction procedure. The three techniques most commonly are made or superwet tumescent liposuction, ultrasound and laser-assisted lipoplasty or liposuction SMART. The tumescent or super-wet technique requires an infusion of saline mixed with epinephrine to facilitate the extraction or removal of excess fat. Assisted lipoplasty uses ultrasonic energy ultrasound to liquefy fat before surgical aspiration. While SMART laser or liposuction is very similar with the assistance of ultrasound technique in which fats are initially dissolved and aspirated. However, in our experience, the advantage of laser liposuction offers patients are improving pain control after surgery and the swelling body is significantly lower compared to traditional tumescent technique. As the result, all 3 techniques are exactly the same. There is no superiority of either method in achieving a pleasing body contour.

Liposuction is more an art than a surgical procedure. This procedure requires a sound understanding of anatomy and body proportionality. Therefore, liposuction is best known as liposculpture. The body parts or body parts that can be treated by liposuction are the abdomen, flanks or Michelin, hips and buttocks, upper and lower back, arms, underarms, or armpit (to the hyperhidrosis), thighs and knees, chin and chest area (especially for gynecomastia). All patients are instructed to strictly apply pressure or use pieces of 2 to 3 weeks to all parts of the body directed by liposuction. The stitches are removed on the 7th or 9th after surgery.

Patients are always advised that there will be swelling and bruising after the surgery. This is temporary and may resolve after 1 to 2 weeks. The result original can be seen after 2 to 4 weeks since much of the swelling had decreased. However, the end result will be appreciated by the 2 to 6 months after surgery.

Patients planning to undergo this procedure will need to assign 8 to 14 days for the first consultation, laboratory, medical clearance, surgery, monitoring, suture removal and early recovery. After this, the patient is safe to travel because all wounds are already dried and cured.

Possible risks and complications:
